Affinity v3.0.1 is out. It is now combined into single application encompassing Photo, Publisher and Designer. It is FREE. It's going to stay FREE. For decades I have used Illustrator, I really like it. Every program is always a compromise. But I don't like Adobe as a company and I don't like the subscription model. "Renting" Illustrator next to Photoshop is very very expensive. So I bought and tried AD, in my opinion this program sucks bit time. It is not intuitive, akward and absolutely horrible to work with. And what about al these great reviews? It's cheap compared to Illustrator, that's the only reason. Getting things done always takes Googling where and how functions are implemented. It feels like working on a PC, that's sums it up nicely.

Unfortunaletly not very good at ipening Illustrator files. Tested several of these apps. Hello,
I'm testing other apps for importing EPS or AI files.
.ai seems to be a better choice generally and apps do better importing those. But Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher do not do very well. The one app that really does is VectorStyler. I threw various test files to several of these apps, Affinity, Inkscape, Pixelmator, Amadine, Linearity… the only one that really works is VectorStyler. Retaining elements as groups as named originally in Illustrator. Gradients work etc etc…
I wish I would not have to buy it, but since Affinity does not work well, I may have to in order to open Adobe vector files without issues. Could you please up your game? If VectorStyler it an be done… Not sure why no other app can do a perfect job.. Pixelmator is eve generally a little better than AD…
